ABOUT ABOUT

The Youth Agricultural Lifetime Leadership opportunity is a 6 day exploration for youth to experience South Texas agricultural production. During the South Texas Y.A.L.L. Experience youth will get to see many unique agriculture operations. Youth will see shrimp and sugar cane processing plants as well as various cattle operations. While many youth are interested in some aspect of agriculture production for a career, many are unfamiliar with all of the job opportunities that exist in commercial agriculture production. Tour attendees will also be challenged in a variety of ways to improve on their leadership skills as agriculture  spokespersons. Participants will see how numerous agricultural related issues are challenged on a daily basis by groups targeting our food supply system. Participants will be provided opportunities to defend agricultural related topics based off of the information they learn from the tour presenters.

The tour will depart from the Kerr County Extension office in Kerrville on July 19th and return to the Kerr County Extension office on July 24th. The cost to the participants for the 6 days is $200 each. 4-H members that have a strong interest in production agriculture who are outgoing high school freshmen through outgoing seniors are invited to apply and 30 youth will be selected. Application deadline is April 1, 2019. Applicants will be notified of their selection in to the program by May 1. Youth that are not selected will be refunded their $200 (The Y.A.L.L.program will not refund the $11 fee). No refunds will be granted after April 1st to youth that are accepted in the program.

If you have any questions please contact the Kerr County Extension Office at (830) 257-6568.
